There are Li Cunxin who is the main character, his ex-wife Elizabeth (or Liz), Mary, Lori, Ben Stevenson, the house owner providing places and education, and teacher Chan.
Li Cunxin was born in a small countryside of China. One day, when he was in school, he was selected with his teacher's recommendation to take a test for exceptional students who will go to Beijing, be trained, and be the Mao's dancer. He is trained for many years and during the training period, Li gets a girlfriend, too. A few years later, he is selected by Ben Stevenson, the chief of Houston Ballet, and gets into Houston Ballet. In the United States of America, he meets Elizabeth and he starts to date her. Also, Li performs on many stages and becomes a great dancer. The movie ends with Li going back again to his hometown, dance, and meet his first ballet teacher Chan.
In the movie, it talks about a story of a frog. It was about how we should experience a lot of things in life. For me, I though it's related to Li Cunxin a lot because Li Cunxin moved many times and experienced new things. When he lived in China and trained in China, he had to know about Communism and was forced to perform a ballet representing wars, guns, and China. However, when he moved to Houston, he could do whatever he wanted to do and become a true ballet dancer with many people cheering.
In the movie, Li had to decide to stay in the USA or return to China. I think he made the right choice to stay in USA. Even though he married Elizabeth to stay in USA, I believe Li was great because he was in USA. If he continued his career in China, he might be killed because he is not a communist.
Now, I want to talk about the teacher Chan. He was a good teacher who inspired Li Cunxin and give a lot of influence to him. During the movie, I also thought about my teacher or people inspire me. The answer was 'parents', especially my mother. My mom is a great teacher, life guidance, and listener. When I am with her, she makes me feel comfortable and also she teaches me a lot of things.
Overall, I totally enjoyed the movie <Mao's Last Dancer> and I think it was a great, touching movie. I want to recommend this movie to the teenagers who are finding their dreams. I hope you watch the movie, and this is the trailer of <Mao's last dancer>. Hope you enjoyed my post and video. Bye!

I enjoyed reading this movie review. It was a really good summary of the movie and followed all the instructions that Ms. Angela requested. Although your reasoning on agreeing Li's decision to stay in the US was somewhat short, it was logical and well-written. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteHey Clara!
ReplyDeleteI really like your movie review. It was a really good summary of the movie without giving away a lot of details and spoilers :)
I think you could focus on the three questions given but overall it was very well organized and it wasn't boring at all to read it :)
